August 5th — 12th, 2018
Debaters arrive on Sunday morning, with registration running 9 – 10 AM that day. The camp wraps up the next Sunday afternoon at 4 PM. The week includes a formal camp tournament.
Instruction for commuter campers will begin at 9 AM each morning and end at 9 PM each evening. We recommend that you arrive on campus by ~8:45 AM each day. On Saturday, August 11th, you will need to get here an hour earlier (at 7:45 AM) so that we can fit in a full camp debate tournament.
University of Minnesota — Twin Cities
MDI is on the West Bank of campus. With indoor classrooms, outdoor workspace, and a host of fantastic restaurants nearby, it’s the perfect place for camp. The University’s central location makes it easy for us to bring in guest speakers from around the Twin Cities — and easy for commuters to get to camp each day. For students driving themselves, Lot 94 offers cheap daily parking.
Students who choose the residential option will stay in Middlebrook Hall dorm rooms. These rooms, typically double occupancy, are just a short walk away from the buildings where camp activities take place. Some students room with a friend from their school, while others go with a randomly assigned roommate to meet someone new.
